"The Dragon breathes new life into the  Olympic Games"

The overall design concept for the 2008 Olympic Village draws on the theme of the Dragon and is composed of three fundamental elements which are inspired by the symbol of the Dragon. First, The Dragon, represented by Dragon Lake in the international zone named Forest Plaza. Second, The Clouds, represented through the buildings of the Athlete's Village which boast hovering high-tech roof forms. And thirdly, The Pearl, the international plaza which interlinks these three elements and is the primary gathering place for the residents of the Olympic Village.
